2011 is the 350th anniversary of the publication of A Sceptical Chymist by Robert Boyle, reckoned to be the most important book about chemistry ever published. Boyle was a leading intellectual figure of the 17th century and one of the founders of modern chemistry. Professor Duncan Thorburn Burns celebrates his life and works.
