Elections and Vacancies


The closing date for nominations to fill vacancies for elected members of Council and Boards was 28 February 2009. Where the nominations exceeded the number of vacancies a ballot was held of RSC members managed by the Electoral Reform Services.

The following vacancies were filled at the AGM held on 8 July 2009:


President Elect

Professor David Phillips OBE BSc PhD CSci CChem FRSC, Council's nominee, was the sole candidate and was therefore declared elected.

Honorary Treasurer

Dr Peter Machin BSc CChem FRSC FMedSci, Council's nominee, was the sole candidate and was therefore declared elected.

Ordinary Members of Council

There were five nominations for the four vacancies and a ballot was held.

Elected Members of Boards

There were three nominations for the vacancy on Education Policy Board and a ballot was held.
