Elections - General Information

Elections to the Council and committees are advertised with any eligibility criteria that might apply.

Every RSC member, regardless of membership category, is entitled to vote in elections. For elections to some Divisions, Subject Groups and Local Sections only members of those bodies are entitled to vote. Vacancies for committees of Sections and Subject Groups are usually filled by direct contact with the individual Section or Group.

The President and Honorary Treasurer of the RSC are elected by the membership. Any FRSC is entitled to be nominated as a candidate. The President-Elect serves for one year before serving a two-year term as President and one year as Immediate Past President. The Honorary Treasurer serves a four-year term of office.

Vacancies for Ordinary Member normally occur every two years. Any member is entitled to be nominated for election as an Ordinary Member of Council. If the number of nominations exceeds the number of candidates a ballot of all RSC members will be held. Ordinary Members serve for a four-year term of office.

Vacancies for Elected Members of Boards normally occur every year.
