Waterloo launch will blast away confusion for UK companies
21 March 2006
An RSC-backed company created with DTI funding to enhance collaboration amongst companies will be launched at 4.00pm on Wednesday 22 March 2006 at London Waterloo's giant Imax cinema.
Two hundred guests will attend the unveiling of the new organization, created to provide a clear, fast information and knowledge-sharing network for companies across the UK.
The Chemistry Innovation Knowledge Transfer Network is a simple, seamless, single, independent point of access to a broad huge range of experts and organizations that can assist with large or small science, engineering or manufacturing changes in businesses.
Also known as Chemistry Innovation the organization will help firms improve technologies to satisfy customers' needs for new products more quickly and will advise on ways to exploit new process technology and on methods of lowering costs and creating novel products.
Chief executive Carol Boyer said today: "The event will be attended by key stakeholders in the innovation process in the chemistry-using industries and the show we are putting on tomorrow will demonstrate a new approach by introducing innovative feedback techniques and innovative ways to serve our food. It should be very memorable."
She added: "Innovation is the message of industry in the 21st century. The question is how to achieve innovation with the pressures on time, resources and money facing every company, and the confusion of many technology providers and supporting organizations. The DTI recognizes the challenge and the hurdles and the new organization was established as a result to serve industries using chemical sciences.
"Chemistry Innovation has been set up with government and academic support to bring all this together. We really believe that we are going to make a difference. Our skills and instincts are rooted in industry so we set out to understand business, whether they international giants or a small concerns, and we listen to their needs before suggesting ways to assist in an action plan."
