Chemistry of chocolate in North Wales

Alison Jones and Erica Roberts from University of Wales, Bangor went to visit Ysgol y Garreg in Llanfrothen, Gwynedd with for a Chemistry of Chocolate workshop.  Pupils learnt about the molecules in chocolate and built molecular models of some of the chemicals.  Chromatography was also carried out on the colourings found on Smarties.  The RSC Chemistry Week balloons and bugs were also popular!
