University Challenge
I’m going to have to hurry you…..!
Students from universities all over the UK including Leicester, Reading, St Andrews and Swansea took part in University Challenge.
Challenges were made to Chemsocs in surrounding areas and battles were fought between undergraduates, MChems, PhD students and academics.
The image below shows the winning team from Swansea University's Chemistry Week University Challenge. They ran the event in the form of a pub quiz and the organiser Rachel Claire Evans said:
'The quiz was open for anyone to join in and we had a mixture of undergraduates, postgraduates, friends, members of the local RSC committee and lecturers at the university taking part. We were extremely happy with the numbers attending, particularly after the announcement to close out department last year has meant that we had no new undergraduate intake this year. We had "Spot prizes" throughout the quiz and prizes for best team name, third and second place. the lucky winners received Chemistry Week T-Shirts and the trophy. All in all everyone had a great time and passed on the news to students who hadn't been able to make it.'
