Annual Report of the Chief Scientist 2008/09
The Food Standards Agency's Annual Report of the Chief Scientist 2008/09 is now available.The report sets out progress in the Agency's science over the past year, highlighting how it drives and underpins advice and policy.
The report highlights:
- the Agency's work to reduce intakes of saturated fat, including evidence behind the advice
- the main evidence behind the Agency's advice on caffeine consumption and peanut consumption during pregnancy
- progress in aspects of food safety, with a particular focus on listeria
In addition it covers work on sampling and analysis of food and consumer exposure assessment, which play a fundamental role in the framework of food chemical risk analysis.
Obtaining the report
The report can be downloaded from the Food Standards Agency website by clicking the image or using the "Contact and Further Information" section on this page.
The FSA has provided a number of interactive CD-ROM copies of the report which will be available at the Chemistry Centre. The CD provides links to all of the Food Standards Agency's research programmes and other scientific work.
