Functional group sequences and 'codes' in MOF chemistry
Metal-organic frameworks have ultra-high porosity (3000-6000 m2/g) and can compact gases such as hydrogen, methane and carbon dioxide within their pores. The construction of robust MOF structures, their porosity, and their applications including mass production of MOFs will be discussed. Building controlled complexity into extended structures is a natural outcome of this chemistry and one that has led us to construct MOFs with functionalities whose arrangement may be viewed as 'gene-like' which code for selective carbon capture.
