Tetsuro Murahashi's group examines the fundamental transition metal chemistry.  A novel class of transition metal complexes are isolated and structurally characterized to develop the molecular concept of transition metal compounds.  For synthesis, new transition metal complexes are designed and synthesized to realize desirable high reactivity.  For materials science, synthetic methods are developed to achieve the size- and shape selective construction of multimetallic frameworks in the molecular level.  Currently, our group focuses on the chemistry of organometallic multinuclear transition metal complexes.  The existence of stable multinuclear sandwich complexes has been revealed in our laboratory.

Notable prizes and awards received: 1) Chemical Society of Japan Award for Young Chemists (2007); 2) Japan Society of Coordination Chemistry Award for Young Chemists (2008); 3) The Young Scientist Prize, The Commendation for Science and Technology by the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology, Japan (2008)
