Faraday Discussion 144: Multiscale Modelling of Soft Matter
25 February 2009

University of Groningen, The Netherlands
Registration is now open for this discussion meeting. Early booking deadline: 22 May.
Faraday Discussion 144 aims to bring together scientists from different (but overlapping) fields of modelling and to encourage the cross-fertilization of ideas from bio-simulation, materials modelling, liquid crystals and colloids.
Discussion sessions:
- Polymer Simulation
- Self-assembly and liquid crystals
- Colloids and Advances in Methodology
- Membranes
The meeting will be opened with an introductory lecture by Kurt Kremer (Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz, Germany). Herman J C Berendsen (University of Groningen, The Netherlands) will conduct the closing remarks.
Deadline for submission of abstracts for poster presentation - 22 May 2009
See the links on this page for the full programme, to submit an abstract for poster presentation and to register.
How Faraday Discussions work
Proofs of around 25 invited and contributed papers are circulated well before each meeting. Since participants have the opportunity to read and consider each paper in advance, the discussion concentrates on the key issues underlying and connecting the presented papers.
The whole of the proceedings are subsequently published in the Faraday Discussions Volume, including the submitted discussion remarks; those that 'the contributors said, or think they said or wished they had said'. In this way, every participant has the opportunity to make a major contribution.
The latest ISI citation data give an impact factor for Faraday Discussions of 5.0, emphasising their importance as a forum for developing new ideas.
