42nd IUPAC Congress Gala Evening
Around 500 delegates of the 42nd IUPAC Congress attended the Congress Gala Evening, which took place on Thursday 6 August in the Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum. The event proved to be an excellent opportunity to network with fellow congress delegates inside this spectacular venue.
Recently restored to its original Victorian splendour, Kelvingrove is one of Scotland's most visited attractions, boasting an art collection of international significance and Scotland's premier natural history collection. Glasgow's most famous modern day designer, Charles Rennie MacKintosh, is also represented with a major collection of his work being on permanent display. Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum resides in an impressive Victorian building set amidst Kelvingrove Park with a picturesque background provided by Glasgow University.

During the evening guests had access to the East and West Balconies overlooking the Centre Hall. The balconies house pieces from two of Scotland's most important art collections.
