Opening Ceremony and Welcome Reception
The opening ceremony took place in the 3000 seat Clyde Auditorium, designed by Sir Norman Foster and affectionately known as the "Armadillo" at the SECC on the evening of Sunday 2 August.
Delegates then walked across the River Clyde to the Glasgow Science Centre for the welcome reception. The Glasgow Science Centre is Scotland's leading science attraction. We are grateful to the City of Glasgow, who hosted the IUPAC Congress welcome reception.
