It's also the UK's largest integrated exhibition and conference centre: a world class facility set in one of Europe's most vibrant cities and only a short journey from some of the most beautiful countryside in the world.
IUPAC 2009 will use the 3000 seat Clyde Auditorium, designed by Sir Norman Foster and affectionately known as the "Armadillo".
Visiting Glasgow
Glasgow is a welcoming and friendly city with a great architectural and artistic heritage. It is also an affordable destination, with accommodation to suit all tastes and budgets within 30 minutes of the SECC.
Travel
Glasgow has two airports. Glasgow Airport is a short flight from the London international airports and the European hub airports. Over 20 budget airline routes directly to the city and there are direct flights to many major international destinations. Glasgow Prestwick Airport runs services to 36 European destinations.
For delegates travelling by rail, Glasgow is well served by two major UK train operators with direct links to the major UK cities.
