Travel Information

By train:

London is less than one hour away by train. There are frequent train services running between Cambridge and London (King's Cross and Liverpool Street) until late into the night. Cambridge Railway Station is situated off of Hills Road, close to the MRC LMB. There are regular buses running the short distance from the Railway Station to Addenbrooke's Hospital (please see the Citi 1 service below).

By bus:

There are regular buses serving the Addenbrooke's Hospital site:

  • Citi 1: Arbury - City Centre - City Centre - Railway Station - Addenbrooke's - Cherry Hinton - Fulbourn
  • H1: Trumpington Park & Ride - Long Road - Rosie Hospital - Addenbrooke's
  • 8: Fen Estate - Arbury - City Centre - Addenbrooke's
  • 13 & 13a: Haverhill - Addenbrooke's - City Centre
  • 99:  Babraham Road Park & Ride - Addenbrooke's - City Centre - Cowley Road Park & Ride

On foot:

Addenbrooke's Hospital is a 30-45 minute walk from the Railway Station and about an hour's walk from the centre of town.

By taxi:

There are taxi ranks in the centre of the city and also at the Railway Station. Please ask to be taken to the Addenbrooke's Hospital site and dropped off at the MRC LMB Reception opposite visitor's car park H.

By car:

Entering Cambridge via the A1307 will bring you right past the building. Just head towards Addenbrooke's Hospital.

If you are approaching Cambridge on the M11 then you should leave the motorway at junction 11, continue through Trumpington then turn right down Long Road towards Addenbrooke's Hospital (this road is about a mile long). At the next traffic light junction turn right into Hills Road and continue to the next roundabout, where you need to turn right again.

The MRC LMB Centre and Addenbrooke's Hospital are now in front of you, turn right at the mini roundabout. The MRC LMB is the building with the spiral staircase on the end of it, the large curved building on legs is the new Max Perutz Lecture Theatre. The entrance to reception is at the top of the steps, disabled visitors should drive down the slope to the right of the lecture theatre and use the intercom. Reception will arrange for access to the lift at the rear of the lecture theatre.

Parking:

There is pay and display parking on the Addenbrooke's Hospital site, but it is probably cheaper and easier to use one of the Park & Ride services. The two nearest Cambridge Park & Ride sites to the MRC LMB are Babraham Road and Trumpington. Parking is free at the Park & Ride sites. When you get on the bus, you will need to pay the driver for your ticket.
