Symposium Information
- Transition metal mediated radical polymerisation, ATRP and SET-LRP.
- Reversible addition fragmentation transfer (RAFT) polymerisation.
- Stable free radical polymerisation.
- Mechanisms, kinetics and novel properties.
- Novel polymer architectures form stars and hyperbranched to multi-block copolymers and surface initiation.
- Scale up and commercialisation aspects.
This symposium will cover all aspects of living and controlled radical polymerisation. Aspects of all types of this class of polymerisation reaction will be covered including ATRP, RAFT, SFRP and newer emerging chemistry such as SET LRP. We will be looking to have an in depth discussion of mechanistic aspects and seeing where there is overlap and also distinction. Following on from this the symposium will cover the different types of polymer architecture available which will also touch on characterisation issues. The different polymers available will then be used to illustrate the wide range of application being looked at from polymer therapeutics to viscosity modifiers. We will be seeking to involve industrial contributions here. The symposium will conclude with issues around scale up and commercialisation of this technology.
