1st UK Solar to Fuels Symposium

18 January 2012, Chemistry Centre, London

This symposium was aimed at bringing together the growing, interdisciplinary UK research community addressing the challenge of utilising sunlight to drive the synthesis of molecular fuels.

The meeting included both photoelectrochemical and bio-inspired approaches to solar fuel production.

Aims

The symposium took place after the release of an RSC report about Solar Fuels and closed with a brief discussion to identify concrete ways in which to support the growing and interdisciplinary solar fuels research community in the UK.

It was hoped that this meeting will be the first in a series of annual events.

Format

The symposium included invited talks a poster session. The programme was designed to provide plenty of time for discussion.

Who should attend?

This scientific meeting was of interest to researchers from a variety of disciplines who are approaching the challenges of solar fuel production.

Registration was FREE  and it was hoped that this will encourage PhD students and postdoctoral researchers, in addition to senior researchers, to participate.

Scientific Committee

Professor James Durrant, Imperial College London  (Chair)
Professor Anthony Harriman, Newcastle University (Co-Chair)
