Guidelines for Creating & Submitting an Abstract
You are asked to follow these guidelines when creating and submitting an abstract for oral or poster presentation.
Abstract Creation:
- Abstracts should a Word document and should be no longer than one A4 page in portrait layout. The abstract should contain the title, co-authors and affiliations following the format detailed in the abstract template which is available to download from this page (the name of the presenting author should be marked with an asterisk (*)
- Main body of text to be left aligned
- Single spacing throughout
- Text should be in Arial, font size 11pt
- References, denoted by superscript numbers in the text, should be listed at the end of the text using standard Chemical Abstracts Source Service Index terminology followed by YEAR, VOLUME, and PAGE
- The use of figures, graphs and schemes is recommended where this aids the understanding of the text. Please note that abstracts will be printed in black and white, so images / figures should be selected carefully
Abstract Submission:
- In order to submit your abstract you will first need to register yourself as a user on the RSC Events System. Please click on the 'Submit' button found on the 'Call for Papers' page
- A new window will open up - double check that it is for the event you wish to submit to and follow the instructions to register to use the system
- You will then be given the option to select the category into which you want to submit your abstract. Please select your preferred option. If the deadline for any of the categories has passed they will no longer be available
- You will be asked to insert your abstract details and upload your abstract, please note this should be a Word document. Click proceed
- You should then receive an automated email within 24 hours of submitting your abstract. If you do not receive this email, please contact RSC Events via the email link on this page
- Please note that you abstract will not be submitted unless you complete the submission process. It is not possible to start the submission and return to it at a later stage
