Preparing your Proposal

When submitting your ideas for a potential conference you should include the following information in your proposal.  Alternatively, download and complete the relevant pdf from this page.

Essential


  • Meeting Title
    Provide a working title for the meeting 
  • Scientific programme
    State the case for the science programme. You should include for example, your comments on the importance, topicality and timeliness of the meeting
  • Target audience and potential size of market
    Describe the target audience. For example, academics and/or industrialists, students, UK and/or overseas, chemical scientists and/or other disciplines. Give an indication of the number of research groups working in the field
  • Length of meeting and format
    State the proposed length of the meeting, one-day or multi-day, parallel or single session, ratio of invited to contributing speakers 
  • Proposed dates
    Suggest dates for the meeting. This should not clash with other RSC meetings or potential competing meetings

Preferred


  • Proposed venue
    Suggest a venue. The conference team can offer advice on venues and does have a preferred venue list. Please contact the conference team for more details
  • RSC divisions, forums and interest groups
    Suggest relevant RSC divisions, forums and interest groups to be involved with organisation or co-sponsorship 
  • Scientific Committee
    Suggest potential members of the committee. These should be finalised after consultation with the RSC conference team
  • Proposed Speakers
    Give names and affiliations of proposed speakers
  • Estimated number of delegates
    State the approximate number of delegates
  • Competing/recent meetings
    Information about any competing meetings and recent meetings on the topic would be helpful. What other societies or organisations are active in this area?
  • Sponsorship and support
    To keep delegate fees down it is the convener's responsibility to seek financial support and sponsorship for the meeting. The conference team can provide advice on this, but it would be helpful if you give an idea of the level of sponsorship you aim to raise and from whom
  • Registration fees
    Suggest a competitive registration fee for the conference
