Preparing your Proposal

A member of the RSC conference team will be happy to assist if you have any queries.
Essential
- Meeting Title
Provide a working title for the meeting - Scientific programme
State the case for the science programme. You should include for example, your comments on the importance, topicality and timeliness of the meeting - Target audience and potential size of market
Describe the target audience. For example, academics and/or industrialists, students, UK and/or overseas, chemical scientists and/or other disciplines. Give an indication of the number of research groups working in the field - Length of meeting and format
State the proposed length of the meeting, one-day or multi-day, parallel or single session, ratio of invited to contributing speakers - Proposed dates
Suggest dates for the meeting. This should not clash with other RSC meetings or potential competing meetings
Preferred
- Proposed venue
Suggest a venue. The conference team can offer advice on venues and does have a preferred venue list. Please contact the conference team for more details - RSC divisions, forums and interest groups
Suggest relevant RSC divisions, forums and interest groups to be involved with organisation or co-sponsorship - Scientific Committee
Suggest potential members of the committee. These should be finalised after consultation with the RSC conference team - Proposed Speakers
Give names and affiliations of proposed speakers - Estimated number of delegates
State the approximate number of delegates - Competing/recent meetings
Information about any competing meetings and recent meetings on the topic would be helpful. What other societies or organisations are active in this area? - Sponsorship and support
To keep delegate fees down it is the convener's responsibility to seek financial support and sponsorship for the meeting. The conference team can provide advice on this, but it would be helpful if you give an idea of the level of sponsorship you aim to raise and from whom - Registration fees
Suggest a competitive registration fee for the conference
