SNIC-RSC Joint Symposium on Inorganic Chemistry

7 - 8 January 2013
Singapore

Introduction

This symposium aims to inspire early career researchers and show that inorganic chemistry is helping to tackle the challenges of energy and materials management. The RSC has been working with scientists to highlight how chemistry will underpin the development of processes and materials which consume less energy and can be made from recycled products to reduce the demand on scarce resources.

This two-day symposium will feature a selection of scientific lectures on three main themes:

  1. Catalysis
  2. Energy
  3. Scarce Resources

As part of the symposium, we will also include morning session on the Tuesday 8th January to celebrate the achievements of "women in science", more specifically in inorganic chemistry.

The symposium will be held in Seminar Room 1, Level 1, Institute of Materials Research and Engineering, 3, Research Link, Singapore,  117602. Lectures will be given by some of the world's leading scientists from Singapore and overseas. The symposium is being co-organised by Singapore National Institute of Chemistry (SNIC), the British High Commission (BHC) in Singapore, Johnson Matthey and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC).

Attendance at the symposium is free although delegates are asked to register using the registration link. The symposium will appeal to both academic and industrial scientific audiences with an interest in inorganic chemistry. Student participation is strongly encouraged, and students will have the opportunity to present their work during a poster session.
