BNASS Special One-Day Meeting
7 July 2010
Doubletree Hilton Hotel, Mill Lane, Cambridge, CB2 1RT, UK
Introduction
BNASS (Biennial National Atomic Spectroscopy Symposium) is now 30 years old. There have been some tremendous changes in atomic spectroscopy over this period. These advances have been showcased at BNASS, which has built an international reputation for both the quality of the science presented and the unique style of the symposium, enabling delegates to meet and discuss issues in a social setting.
However, following feedback from previous meetings, the structure of BNASS for 2010 has been revised, and this year we are going to trial a new format. We are confident that all of the main features of BNASS will be retained and we intend to run a full three day meeting next year.
- Manufacturer User Group Meetings as an integral part of the main symposium
- Three keynote speakers
- Interactive poster session and mixer
- Manufacturers' exhibition
- All refreshments and lunch included in the registration fee
Programme
The provisional programme is available to download. The keynote speakers are:
- Clive Thompson, ALcontrol Laboratories, Yorkshire, UK
- Katrin Loeschner, National Food Institute, Technical University of Denmark
- Jackie Morton, Health and Safety Laboratory, Buxton, UK
- Barry Sharp, Loughborough University, UK
Posters
A poster session will take place during the day.
The deadline for poster abstracts was Monday 31 May 2010. A template for submission is provided. The maximum length is 200 words. Please send the completed forms to the secretariat.
Registration
To register for BNASS, please complete the form and send to the Secretariat. The fees are £35 for RSC/IOP members, £50 for non-members.
Bursaries
Younger scientists are particularly welcome at BNASS meetings and students are encouraged to submit abstracts for poster presentations.
A limited number of bursaries are available to research students. Each bursary (£80) is intended to cover the cost of registration at the one-day meeting (£35) and a contribution towards travel expenses.
Applicants for bursaries should submit a one-page curriculum vitae of their career since leaving school, together with a brief (not more than 500 words) outline of their current research work in atomic spectrometry.
Applications should be signed by the applicant and their supervisor, and submitted by email to the Secretariat before 31 May 2010.
