Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Image of man climbing the career ladder
CPD is the means by which professionals maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills and develop the personal qualities required in their working lives. For many chemical scientists this also includes keeping up to date with new developments in their field.

There are many routes to CPD, which may include:

  • attending conferences and seminars
  • training workshops
  • distance and open learning programmes
  • reading journals and trade publications
  • writing material for publication
  • involvement in community activities such as volunteering and mentoring.

As part of our commitment to maintaining professional standards and supporting members throughout their working lives, a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) framework has been developed to help our members.
