RSC School Teacher Fellow Kristy Turner
Kristy undertook her MChem at the University of Bradford from 1998-2002 followed by a move to the University of Glasgow to undertake a PhD with David Procter.   Whilst completing her studies at the University of Manchester, Kristy took advantage of new opportunities to work in schools outreach. On completion of her PhD, Kristy trained as a teacher on the Graduate Teacher Programme at Westhoughton High School.   Subsequently promoted to Head of Chemistry, Kristy has been a leading member of school science networks including the RSC's CFOF curriculum project and the Ogden Trust physical sciences partnership in Bolton.

As an RSC School Teacher Fellow based at Manchester, Kristy will be looking at bringing some commonly used learning strategies from secondary schools into undergraduate teaching. She also aims to improve academics' understanding of the skills and subject knowledge of 6th formers and to improve the skills and consistency of demonstrators in the marking of lab-based courses.

Outside of chemistry Kristy is a keen hillwalker, kayaker and canoeist.
