The introduction to Synetix gave an insight into working for a global organisation. I feel much more informed of the career opportunities available to me after completing my DPhil.

The tour of BP Hull provided an insight into all stages of research for the VAM process in operation at Saltend. I was impressed with the attention to detail in each phase, with all processes mimicking true operating conditions.

It was fascinating to see how the work in the lab was scaled up. I thought the tour was very informative and encouraging towards postgraduate chemists like myself who are thinking of applying for work in industry.

This industrial tour offered us the opportunity to visit a number of chemical companies with international reputations! All of them presented a dynamic, exciting and very attractive environment. I was pleasantly surprised by the vast amount of equipment and facilities provided in every laboratory. It also helped me to choose the area in which I would like to specialize. This study tour was a great success, thank you very much.

The postgraduate tour was an invaluable opportunity to witness at first hand the workings of industrial companies. The three selected companies provided diversity in terms of manufacturing and the scale of their respective plants whilst highlighting the differences of research within academia and industry. It was also a good chance to discuss informally with representatives of the companies what their expectations of a research scientist were within an industrial environment.
