About the Qualification
This NVQ at level 5 is a postgraduate - level qualification. It requires extensive knowledge and understanding of analytical chemistry and the ability to apply fundamental principles and techniques to solving problems using analytical chemistry. The successful candidate will demonstrate competency in the application of complex techniques across a wide variety of contexts, with very substantial personal autonomy.
NVQs(National Vocational Qualifications) are based on UK national standards of occupational competence. These standards measure how employees use their skills and knowledge to do their jobs.
Candidates are required to gather evidence to satisfy the requirements of five units:
Unit 1: Specifying analytical information requirements
Unit 2: Selecting analytical techniques and methods
Unit 3: Developing analytical methods
Unit 4: Advising on sampling procedures
Unit 5: Managing information for action
Candidates submit a portfolio of evidence which is assessed by members of the RSC's Analytical Chemists Panel, and then attend a panel interview at the RSC.
