CPD is the means by which professionals maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge and skills and develop the personal qualities required in their working lives. This includes keeping up to date with new developments in their field.
As part of our commitment to maintaining professional standards and supporting members throughout their working lives, a Continuing Professioanl Development (CPD) framework has been developed to help our members.

For QPs, recording your CPD will identify those members who demonstrate a commitment to maintaining their professional competence. Annex 16 to the EU Guide to Good Manufacturing Practice states that '8.3 A QP should maintain his knowledge and experience up to date in the light of technical and scientific process and changes in quality management relevant to the products which he is required to certify', and the GMP Directive 2003/94/EC also states in Article 7 that 'The personnel shall receive initial and ongoing training, the effectiveness of which shall be verified...'. The CPD return provides you with an opportunity to document this. The CPD process can also be used as part of your appraisal process for you and your staff.
