Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC)

SiLC is a high quality unifying qualification for the assessment of the condition and remediation of brownfield sites which fulfils the needs of public and private sectors and society as a whole.

The concept of SiLC and the Land Condition Record arose from the Government's Urban Task Force, which in 1999 identified the benefits of greater consistency in handling information on land contamination. A working group subsequently developed a standard document, the Land Condition Record (LRC), which is consists of factual information completed within a quality control system which includes the use of accredited specialists.

The RSC is one of eight professional bodies involved in the registration of the Specialist in Land Condition (SiLC). All the professional bodies participate in the Professional and Technical Panel (PTP), which has developed the system for SiLC registration.

More than 100 people have now been awarded SiLC status.
