Careers and professional development
Where can I find out about RSC courses?
The RSC organises a range of continuing professional development courses, seminars and other events for teachers.

Do I need to be an RSC member to attend the RSC courses?
No. The courses are open to any chemistry teacher interested in attending, subject to availability of places. However, members do receive significant discounts on the registration fees for all RSC courses (this discount is usually equal to, or more than, the cost of the annual membership subscription).
How do I know if the RSC courses are any good?
RSC events are very popular among teachers and feedback from previous participants on RSC courses is generally of a highly positive nature. Typical comments include:
'Going on this course has provided me with lots of resources to use in my everyday teaching'
'Very effective in making me think, reflect on my teaching and on what I was going to do next'
In 2004 the RSC commissioned an external evaluation of its educational materials and INSET activities to find out what teachers and students thought of RSC resources. Overall, teachers rated the training exceptionally high in terms of how well it met their needs. This is the result of a combination of factors: well-qualified and committed trainers who have high credibility with other teachers, well-designed activities, and a focus on practice and how to do things with students.
