Where can I find RSC resources?

The RSC produces a variety of curriculum resources and careers materials in a range of formats, including multimedia (e.g. CD-ROMs), web-based and paper-based materials. The RSC also organises a range of events and activities for both teachers and students.

All new RSC Education Department publications are distributed free-of-charge to every school and college in the UK and Ireland that caters for students in the age range 11-19. Mailings are addressed to "the teacher in charge of chemistry". Additional copies of books can be purchased from the RSC Publishing Department. Additional posters and careers leaflets can be requested from the Education Department. A limited number of these can be provided free.

Many RSC resources are available free online. Access to websites developed by, or in conjunction with, the RSC Education Department is free. pdf files of web-based documents, as well as electronic versions of some paper-based materials and the contents of the CD-ROMs accompanying these publications can be downloaded free.

What do I do if I think I haven't received an RSC resource?

Before contacting us, please check with the teacher in charge of chemistry/science whether they have received a copy of the resource. If the resource has not arrived, contact Sandra Abraham at the RSC Education Department to check whether your school/college is on the mailing list. If not, you will be added and a copy of the resource will be sent to you. We regret that the RSC cannot send out further copies of a resource if there is a record of the publication already having been sent to your school.

Please note: copies are sent to "the teacher in charge of chemistry" for dissemination within the school or college - they are NOT intended as personal copies. Should you wish to receive personal copies of all our resources, you can subscribe to the Schools and Colleges Publications Service.

What is the 'Schools and Colleges Publications Service?'

This RSC service allows you and/or your school/college to keep abreast of new ideas and developments in the chemical education sector all over the world.

For just £60.00 a year (UK)/£75.00 (elsewhere), you or your institution will receive six packages, mailed in alternate months. These packages contain the latest RSC resources, up-to-date issues of stimulating and informative journals of chemical education - not just from the UK but also from the US, Canada, Ireland and New Zealand - as well as useful materials from other sources.

Can I put RSC electronic resources on my network?

In most cases it is permitted to make the material on RSC CD-ROMs accessible over a network. However, the RSC does not offer support or guidance on how best to network the files.

Can I get free careers resources?

The RSC produces a variety of careers resources, including leaflets, posters, careers profiles and online information and advice.
Paper-based careers materials are sent free-of-charge to the teacher in charge of chemistry at every school and college in the UK and Ireland following their initial publication. Further copies can be obtained at no cost (up to a specified maximum number of copies), from the Education Department.

Can I buy products online?

Yes. Many RSC products can be purchased online via the Chemsoc web page associated with the required resource.  Alternatively, contact the RSC Sales Department.

Please note: some products cannot be purchased online. If there is no option to buy online, contact the Education Department.

My school is affiliated with the Institute of Physics/Institute of Biology, does the RSC offer a similar affiliation?

No. Since the RSC sends a copy of each new resource (including Education in Chemistry) free-of-charge to all secondary schools and colleges in the UK, each chemistry department should receive our material without the need to subscribe to an affiliation scheme.

However, to receive additional publications, from all over the world, relating to chemical education, schools or individuals can subscribe to our Schools and Colleges Publications Service.
