The New KS3 Curriculum

The new KS3 programme of study is focussed towards developing scientific thinking and processes.  There are only four paragraphs of specified content.  The content being what teachers draw upon when teaching the key concepts (thinking, applications and implications, cultural understanding and collaboration) and when teaching the key processes (practical skills, critical understanding, and communication).

The workshop examines how the new programme of study relates to the current POS and identifies what the main changes are in terms of methodology, content and assessment.

The workshop will focus on the implications for teaching the new KS3 science and examine strategies for teaching the key processes and concepts.  In addition it will look at how departments can integrate the specified curriculum opportunities such as careers, contemporary and historical development.

The Workshops will be held in:

Manchester (28 January 2008)

Leeds (18 March 2008)

London (19 March 2008)
