Essential book for primary school teachers required to teach science with limited science or chemistry knowledge of their own. The book was written to provide background information on science, with the particular emphasis on chemical sciences. 

The book is divided into chapters, each of which deals with a different subject

• solids, liquids and gases
• groups of materials
• properties of materials
• making new materials
• how materials behave    

The material in each chapter is divided into three levels of increasing depth A,B and C. Chemical concepts for each section are clearly explained and cross-references to Primary Science programmes in the UK are given.
