LIC redevelopment update
The RSC Library & Information Centre (LIC) closed to all visitors on 23 May 2008 for approximately 12 months whilst it undergoes refurbishment.
Library services during the redevelopment
- By special arrangement we are pleased that the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain (RPSGB) will accept RSC members during the 12 month closure (see note below)
- All RSC electronic journals, archives, databases and books collections will be available courtesy of the RPSGB library
- Books can be loaned on behalf of RSC members via the British Library at a cost of £12.35 per book
- All the resources of the RSC Virtual Library will be available 24/7, including pre-paid tokens
- An augmented Chemical Enquiry Helpdesk will be available, including at-cost online searching
- Historical and genealogical enquiries will be available as normal
5 week closure of Burlington House (21 July to 25 August 2008)
Burlington House will be closed to all visitors for 5 weeks from Monday 21 July to Monday 25 August 2008, returning Tuesday August 26 after Bank Holiday Monday. This is to allow for extensive preparations to be made to allow the refurbishment to commence.
The telephone enquiry service will operate at reduced hours, Monday to Friday 10.30 to 12.30 and 1.30 to 15.30. E-mail enquiries will be dealt with as normal though response times may be slightly longer than the standard 2 working days.
2 week closure of the RPSGB (21 July to 1 August 2008)
Due to unforseen circumstances, the RPSGB will be closed for 2 weeks from Monday 21 July to Friday 1 August 2008.
Visiting the Library and special arrangements
There will be a lack of meeting room space and general disruption due to refurbishment so it will not be possible to visit the Library for research. However staff will be pleased ...
