Contains four databanks that are provided free of charge by the US National Library of Medicine. Of particular interest is the Hazardous Substances Data Bank, which is an evaluated databank of approximately 4,500 potentially hazardous substances.

Link icon European Inventory of Existing Commercial Chemical Substances (EINECS)
The EINECS database provides general information such as CAS number, EINECS number, Substance Name and Chemical Formula for 100 204 chemical substances. Where available each compound entry is linked to risk and safety phrases and IUCLID and OECD chemical data sheets.

This free database from the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) provides toxicity information on aquatic and terrestrial life.

Chemsafe is the industry mutual aid scheme for dealing with chemical substance emergencies. The NCEC plays a major role as the 24/7 advice line to the emergency services.

Maintained by the National Environmental Technology Centre (NETCEN) of AEA Technology, the site covers statistics on the majority of air pollutants in the UK.

From the US EPA (Environmental Protection Agency), this site includes information on the Superfund program, hazardous waste data, the US Toxic Release Inventory and also allows retrieval of information from EPA databases.

Internationally peer reviewed information, consolidated from intergovernmental organisations, on chemicals commonly used throughout the world which may also occur as contaminants in the environment and food. The compounds are documented in different health and safety contexts including: Environmental Health Criteria Monographs; Health and Safety Guides; Poison Information Monographs and Screening Information Data Set for High Production Volume Chemicals.
