Support for members

All RSC members can request advice and support from the Fund on issues such as:

  • housing
  • debt advice
  • state benefits
  • disability
  • health issues

Financial support is also available from the Fund on submission of an application form. Please note that this type of support is normally only available to members of the RSC [and predecessor bodies up to the amalgamation in 1980] who have been in membership for at least three consecutive years.

Former members of the RSC who have resigned in good standing [ie have informed the RSC of leaving rather than allowing the membership to lapse] after completing 10 years in membership can also apply to the Fund for financial support.

However, if an RSC member passes away while in membership, irrespective of length, their spouses, children and other dependants are also able to receive help from the Fund. The Fund recognises partners in long-term same and mixed sex relationships as eligible dependants.

Who is defined as a dependant?

  • Dependants are restricted to directly domiciled regular dependants [ie first generation] and close relations: brother, and sister but not cousin, applying the rule above
  • Deviations from these definitions are considered on a case by case basis and help given where appropriate.
