Hilger Prize

The Hilger Prize is the Atomic Spectroscopy Group's prize for young scientists who are judged to have made a major contribution to analytical atomic spectroscopy which may be in such fields as atomic absorption, atomic fluorescence, atomic emission, ICP-MS and X-ray fluorescence spectroscopy. The contribution need not be theoretical and may include areas such as applications, instrumental development or modification, improvement in data handling, calibration procedures or sample preparation.

The prize is awarded biennially to anyone who is a RSC member and who uses atomic spectrometry during their work.  The next prize will be awarded in 2008. Applicants must be under the age of 35 by 31st December 2008.

The prize consists of an all-in package of free registration, accommodation  and social sessions at the next Biennial National Atomic Spectroscopy Symposium – BNASS (to be held at the University of Sussex, Brighton in July 2008), where the recipient will be invited to present their work, and also receive a cash / book prize totalling £200.
