ITF Small Business Activities

We recognise that supporting entrepreneurship and small businesses is key to the future of innovation in the chemical sciences and therefore we have a pipeline full of activities in this area for 2006/07.  These fall into three main areas: events, policy and publicity.

Networking Events

We are increasing the frequency of our successful Support for Small Companies events to meet demand and also developing some new events looking at the needs and constraints of the early and established SMEs within the chemical science community.

The RSC and Chemistry Leadership Council published a report into spin-out activity in UK universities in March 2005. As a follow up to this we’re working closely with many of the regions in the UK to produce a report into the larger chemical science small business sector.

June ‘06 saw the launch of a new section in the RSC website dedicated to supporting and meeting the needs of the chemical science small business sector.
