The Role of Radiochemistry in the Sentencing and Disposal of Radioactive Materials


An excellent meeting was held, well organised by Dr Linda Ashton of Atkins Global, attended by over 80 people from across the industry.  

The keynote speech was given by Neil Smart of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority. 

The meeting was divided into 3 sessions, Regulatory, Radiochemistry and Alternative Strategies. The talks were:

  • Transport of Radioactive Materials - Hannah Reed - Atkins 
  • Fuel Element Debris Dissolution - Dave North & Graham McArdle - Magnox South
  • Decommissioning Experience - Decontamination & Waste Characterisation - Karan North - Magnox South
