Tritium – Handling, measurement and disposal

The joint meeting with the Tritium Uses group was very successful. There were 69 delegates who attended on the day from a wide range of organisations representing nuclear power, decommissioning, life sciences, military and fusion technology.

The meeting was opened by two introductory talks describing the Tritium Users Group and RSC Radiochemistry Group.
The technical presentations covered a range of topics including problems associated with decommissioning of tritium handling facilities, in situ detection of tritium, quantification of tritium in low level wastes and bioassay samples and the use of tritium in drug discovery.
Laboratory tours of the NOCS radioanalytical facilities were organised at the end of the day with approximately 30 people taking part in the tours.
