SDG Annual meeting: Durham 19-21 December 2005

The conference began on the evening of Monday 19 December 2005 with two tutorial lectures aimed particularly, but by no means exclusively, at graduate students. These were:

  • Prof. Tim Softley (University of Oxford), ‘Chemical dynamics at sub-Kelvin temperatures’
  • Prof. Colin Bain (University of Durham), ‘Surface-specific vibrational spectroscopy’

The other guest speakers and their talk titles were:

  • Dr Vasilios Stavros (Warwick University), will talk on ‘Coherent control of electronic, vibrational and rotational dynamics’
  • Dr André Fielicke (Fritz-Haber Institut, Berlin) ‘Probing the structures of pure metal clusters and metal cluster complexes’
  • Prof. Brooks Pate (University of Virginia, USA), ‘Shake, Rattle, Roll: Applications of True Broadband Fourier Transform Microwave Spectroscopy to Isomerization Reactions'

The remainder of the meeting involved the traditional mix of invited lectures together with both oral and poster contributions.  Further details may be found in the meeting programme.
