RSC Interest Groups - Why should I get involved

There are over 80 RSC Interest Groups (Divisions, Forums, Groups and Sectors) representing a wide range of activities in the chemical sciences.  You can join any of our Divisions or Forums free of charge. There are also specialist groups linked to these Divisions and Forums (a small fee payable to join one of these groups) so that there is a wealth of information, contacts and opportunities available to you as a member of one or several of the RSC Interest Groups.  The following represents a cross section of opportunities on offer depending on which groups you decide to join:

  • Be the first to hear of Interest Group meetings, seminars and workshops via newsletters and e-alerts
  • Meet other members (from PhD students to Professors to industrialists) with similar interests
  • Get involved in organising and publicising your own meetings
  • Contribute to your research community by writing newsletter articles or joining a committee
  • Opportunity to influence science policy
  • Use your expertise to influence legislation by contributing to RSC responses to government consultations
  • Take advantage of Interest Group awards, bursaries and travel grants
  • Take advantage of RSC contacts and resources to help your career progression
  • Industry focused training
  • Special discounts

How to join

You can join any of our Divisions and Forums free of charge or join a RSC Group related to your area of interest or work for a small annual fee (typically between £5 - £10)
