Introducing the logo

The RSC logo is made up of three elements; the RSC letters, the 'Advancing the Chemical Sciences' strapline and a vertical separating line.

The 'RSC' letterforms are custom-drawn and should not be re-created in any other form. The type style delivers the modernity of a sans serif but the stature, elegance and distinctiveness of a serif, giving us a modern face with plenty of history behind it.

The strapline uses Myriad Pro to add a simplicity and modern feel to the logo as a whole and ensures that the logo remains easy to read at small sizes.

There are a small number of special applications of the core brand elements, but the basic rule is that the 'RSC' letterform and the strapline should never be separated. The logo is supplied as artwork and should not be re-created under any circumstances.

The logo should only be used in black, white or corporate blue. When the logo is reversed out of a background colour, the background must be solid blue or black in all but exceptional circumstances.

There is a special instance of the RSC logo that is used only on materials produced by or used in the Publishing Department of the RSC website. This logo should never be used in any other circumstances. The basic usage rules are identical to that of the main logo.

Please note that the registered charity number should appear on these materials unless approved by Neville Reed or Richard Porte.
