Introduction
This joint symposium organised by the RSC, the Sociedade Brasilera de Quimica (SBQ) and Sociedad Colombiana de Ciencias Quimicas (SCCQ) was held at the XXIX Congreso Latinoamericano de Quimica – CLAQ 2010.
The theme of “Biodiversity and Ecosystems: the role of the chemical sciences” was chosen to fit with the theme of CLAQ 2010 which is “Chemical Industry and Natural Resources, a Worldwide Responsibility”.
