RSC and CCS

The RSC signed an International Cooperation Agreement (ICA) with the Chinese Chemical Society (CCS) on the 20 October 2006.

The ICA enables the RSC's 44,000 members and the CCS's 60,000 members a wider range of services and more support when they are visiting the partnered country, and was signed by Prof Chunli Bai (CCS President) and Richard Pike (RSC CEO).

"Recent decades have seen the unstoppable march of globalisation, and the corresponding increase in scientific collaboration across borders has lead to an incredible rise in the sum of human knowledge," Richard Pike explains.

"This agreement gives us a wonderful opportunity to place ourselves at the heart of a global network of societies which will lead the future development of the chemical sciences.

"Its about participation, with the RSC and the CCS bringing together the leaders in their field for scientific meetings and relaying the knowledge from these meetings to all members.

"Its about collaboration, through ground-breaking scientific, social and educational projects between Chinese and UK chemists.

"Its about sharing, through the exchange of valuable printed or electronic materials from both societies.

"And its about cooperation, with both societies joining forces to increase public awareness of chemistry and to promote its key role in providing the solutions to many of the challenges faced by mankind in the 21st century".
