The Beijing Section of the RSC was formed in 2008 and the committee works closely with staff in the RSC office in Beijing. 

Since its formation the RSC Beijing Section has organised a variety of activities, including:

•  “Fun with Science”—a programme of monthly practical chemistry classes for children from migrant schools in Beijing who otherwise would have no chance to study science
• Demonstration lectures in schools and universities
• “Understanding Science”—monthly popular science lectures for the general public
• “Women Sharing a Chemical Moment in Time”—one of a worldwide series of breakfast meetings celebrating the achievements of women chemists 
• Competitions for school students          

The Beijing Section work alongside the Migrant Childrens Foundation to provide a programme of activity that aims to enrich the lives of disadvantaged children in China through volunteering.  

The MCF is a non-profit organisation that runs a variety of volunteer activities, not just teaching, that give migrant children the opportunity to experience people and ideas that they wouldn't necessarily find in their day-to-day environment.
