Japan-UK Symposium: Catalysis for a Sustainable World
15 – 16 July 2010
Chemistry Centre, Burlington House, London, UK
Introduction
In the development of new technologies and processes, the requirement for sustainability is paramount. In addition, innovation is required to substitute old products and processes for new greener ones. This symposium will highlight ways in which catalysis can provide chemistry solutions to many of the challenges that face society in sustainability.
This event marks the signing of an International Cooperation Agreement between the Chemical Society of Japan (CSJ) and the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). This joint symposium features speakers and posters from Japanese and UK scientists.
Aims
This meeting aims to bring together scientists working in the field of catalysis for sustainability from the UK and Japan. It offers an opportunity for networking and international collaboration and will begin to strengthen links between the two countries.
International Cooperation Agreement
The signing of a five-year International Cooperation Agreement will take place at an evening drinks reception, which all delegates are invited to.
Discussion between the RSC and the CSJ has identified many potential areas of collaboration. After the signing the two societies will work together to develop a program of work in areas of mutual interest and organise joint events and projects in these areas.
Organisers and Sponsors

This event is being organised jointly by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Chemical Society of Japan. We are very grateful to the Great Britain Sasakawa Foundation for funding.
