PACN GC-MS workshop

JKUAT, Nairobi, Kenya

16 participants from 9 sub-saharan countries took part in this training workshop on Gas Chromotography Mass Spectrometry. 

Participants were sponsored by both the Pan Africa Chemistry Network Kenya and the OPCW (Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons.) The workshop aimed to build collaborations between scientists across Africa and also to help them further develop analytical skills.

The workshop ran for 5 days and the skills learnt were of particular importance in Kenya where 30% of the pharmaceuticals on the market are counterfeit. 

The conference closed with the Department of Chemistry at JKUAT offering to host another training workshop which OPCW has offered to sponsor.
