2nd PACN GC-MS workshop

Following the success of the 2009 GC-MS workshop a second workshop was organised at the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.

The GC-MS Instrumentation workshop was facilitated by Dr. Mathias Schaffer, a Senior Scientist at the University of Cologne, Germany and Prof. Antony Gachanja, a Professor in analytical/environmental Chemistry at JKUAT.
Participants from seven sub-Saharan African countries attended the event and were sponsored by the PACN and OPCW. The sessions covered an introduction to Gas Chromatography (GC) and Mass Spectrometry (MS) instrumentation. 

The week long workshop covered many aspects of GC-MS, including; set-up, maintenance, running samples, interpretation of results, and sample pre-treatment. A third workshop is planned for 2011.
