Kenya Hub
By definition, the University is at the centre of the action, with a very substantial and steadily increasing profile and associated public relations advantages.
The activities organized and coordinated by the hub include:
- creating new avenues for researchers across Kenya and Africa
- developing new networking and strengthening existing networks across Africa
- promoting research collaborations
- coordinating of conferences, workshops, and other scientific activities
- distribution of educational materials, including books, for schools and universities
- working with science teachers across Kenya to further develop the teaching of science
- playing a key role in increasing the number of qualified chemical scientists emerging from Africa
- administering travel grants and fellowships
- developing web pages that would be incorporated into Nairobi University’s web site

Launch of the Kenya Hub
The official launch of the Kenya hub took place in Nairobi at the University of Nairobi, Chiromo campus on 27 May 2008. The launch was followed by a scoping workshop involving scientists and policy makers from across the African continent.
The workshop covered five key areas: energy, food, health, water and education in the chemical sciences in order to guide future activities of the Kenyan hub and coordinate with other African and international networks.
