Women Members Network
The number of women members of the RSC is constantly increasing especially amongst student members where female students now equal male students studying the chemical sciences.
The RSC is committed to providing services relevant to the scientific and professional needs of women in the chemical sciences and actively promotes the entry and re-entry of women to the profession.
One of the ways in which we support our women members is through our Women Members Network which provides support and essential networking opportunities for members to meet others in their area of work or who are facing the same issues.
Regional network events vary from simple social events to lectures on professional development or a broader scientific topic.
Details of meetings are published in RSC News, which is distributed to all members of the Royal Society of Chemistry.
The RSC has initiated several programmes aimed at improving the status of women in chemistry, and is continuously investigating ways in which it can develop and increase the role of women in science - its association with organisations such as AWiSE (Association for Women in Science and Engineering), The Daphne Jackson Trust, UKRC (UK Resource Centre for Women in Science and Engineering), WiTEC (European Association for Women in Science, Engineering and Technology) and the WNC (Women's National Commission) are examples of this practice.
