Analytical Chemists Register
There are two routes to admission onto the Register, the NVQ Level 5 in Analytical Chemistry and the Mastership in Chemical Analysis (MChemA).
The NVQ was developed in response to an anticipated need to confirm the competence of analytical chemists to comply with legislation, and to establish objective criteria for entry to the Analytical Chemists Register.
The first award was made in 2005 and ten candidates have completed the qualification. In view of the small number of candidates, the NVQ is being discontinued, and registration is now closed. Candidates who have already registered have until 31 March 2014 to complete the qualification.
The number of members leaving the Analytical Chemists Register, mainly due to retirement, exceeds the number being added. The Register will close on 31 March 2014 when the NVQ expires.
