PCCP Prizes Awarded at ICEI 2007

26 July 2007

As part of our promotional activities to highlight the success of the journal and recognise the latest outstanding new research in the fields of physical chemistry and chemical physics, PCCP is presenting a series of prizes at conferences throughout 2007.

Three Poster Prize were awarded at the recent International Conference on Electrified Interfaces (ICEI 2007).  The meeting was held in Sahoro Resort, Hokkaido, Japan, and was the 11th in a series on non-traditional approaches to the study of solid/electrolyte interfaces. The ICEI meeting is held every 3 years, to provide an interdisciplinary forum to discuss recent advances in interfacial electrochemistry and related subjects

The winners were selected by a committee which included the local organiser, Professor Kohei Uosaki.

The judges comments on the superb scientific standard of the posters presented at the conference, and had a difficult job before finally selecting the following three PCCP poster prize winners:

  • Klaus Krug (Christian-Albrechts-Universität), for his work on "In-situ diffraction studies of homoepitaxial electrochemical growth on single crystal electrodes"
  • Satoshi Nihonyanagi (Temple University) for research into "Time- and Frequency Resolved Sum-Frequency Generation Studies of Free OH at Solid/Aqueous Interfaces"
  • Chih-Wei Hu  (National Taiwan University) for his poster on "An EQCM Study for Anodically Coloring Electrochromic Polymer Thin Films with Pendent Phenothiazine Redox Units"

The three prize-winners recieve a PCCP Prize Certificate and a financial reward. Further PCCP Prizes are scheduled to be awarded later on this year.
